Client Challenge
- The investigation of possible alternatives for the reinforcement of the interconnection between France and Spain in order to increase the Net Transfer Capacity (NTC) from 1100 MW to 2800 MW (first phase, 2002-2003).
- The identification of the economic and technical justification of the new crossborder infrastructure (second phase, 2008)
What we've done
The investigation of possible alternatives has been carried out considering a full set of domains ranging from system issues (network study) to technological and environmental aspects. Then, taking into account the different market conditions of MIBEL and Powernext and considering the development of generation from renewable sources (specifically wind farms); participation to the public debates with the French and Spanish authorities and local associations.
