ITER Project - Framework Contract for Quality Assurance and Quality Control Services for Electrical, Power Conversion and Power Electronics components
Project data
Client Challenge
ITER is a large-scale scientific experiment aimed to demonstrate that it is possible to produce commercial energy from fusion. During its operational lifetime, ITER will test key technologies necessary for the next step: the demonstration fusion power plant that will capture fusion energy for commercial use. In ITER, the fusion reaction will be achieved in a Tokamak device that uses magnetic fields to contain and control the hot plasma. The fusion between Deuterium and Tritium (D-T) will produce one Helium nuclei, one neutron and energy.
What we've done
In the context of this project, CESI has been awarded with a Framework Contract with the ITER Electrical Supply Division, for the provision of consulting services and quality assurance activities. In particular, CESI will provide technical assistance in the following fields of activities:
- Writing technical documents describing test and commissioning procedures for the ITER Power Supply Subsystems (individual and integrated tests);
- Preparing test and commissioning procedures (individual and integrated) to be carried out jointly with other systems in the ITER project (magnet coils, cryogenics, cooling water systems, etc.);
- Making up the conformity criteria for the Safety Relevant components to be installed and operated in basic nuclear installations, integrating the RCC E applicable rules;
- Participating as an independent body in the factory witness tests and/or ITER site commissioning for the related components or subsystems.
